Let’s be honest, guns are loud and each time you endure the blast from a firearm without adequate ear protection you permanently and irreversibly damage your hearing ability. There is no such thing as temporary hearing loss and there are no awards given for who can do the best imitation of a doornail or fencepost.

Enter the suppressor, one of the best things you can buy for your firearm. Whether you’re a seasoned marksman or a weekend range-goer, a suppressor (also known as a silencer) can completely transform your shooting experience. By significantly reducing the noise and recoil of gunfire, suppressors make shooting more enjoyable, less jarring, and far easier on your ears—no need to double up on hearing protection.

They also help improve accuracy by taming muzzle rise and allowing you to stay on target faster. For hunters, that means a quieter shot that won’t spook nearby game; for recreational shooters, it’s a more relaxed and neighbor-friendly outing. Add to that the long-term health benefits for your hearing and the added control over your firearm

With that, embrace the quiet life. Buy the suppressor. Make sure that you get to hear your grandchildren’s giggles and your wife’s sweet summons in your old age while being polite to your fellow men.

UPDATE Regarding the BIG BEAUTIFUL BILL

As many of you probably already know, the Big Beautiful Bill (BBB) has either made its way to or been signed by President Trump and the language of the bill has provided a reduction of the National Firearms Act Transfer Tax from $200 to $0 after January 1, 2026.

While the National Firearms Act has long been a thorn in the side for gun owners everywhere and relief from some of the provisions of the NFA are welcome, it goes without saying that the already tight NFA market is going to get utterly WRECKED with a lot of new customers who were reticent to purchase because of the $200 tax.

To put this into perspective, there are only 2.6 million registered suppressors in the United States and most of them were added to the registry within the last 10 or so years. Juxtapose that with the number of NICS background checks conducted every year to be between 12 million and 20 million (with an undisclosed number of firearms per background check) and you can get a slightly better idea of just how many people might want a suppressor once the fees are reduced and what a strain this will put on an already tight market. I personally call this the “Disneyland Effect”.

Due to these stressors, it is inevitable that price hikes will take hold across the marketplace as manufacturers, distributors and dealers try to rein in excess demand with limited supply and the ever-present regulatory environment.

What this means for you, the customer.

It is my recommendation to not wait until after January to purchase your suppressor but to get it now while supplies last and the prices haven’t risen due to utterly nutbars demand.

For my local customers, you can purchase cans and I will sit on them until January for your $0 NFA transfer.

For my non-local customers, I am happy to mail suppressors to your favorite local dealer when you want them to be mailed. Want them now? Sure thing, no problem. Want them in January? Not a problem, I got space for you.
